The Montessori environment contains specially designed, manipulative, "materials for development," that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own choice. Under the guidance of their trained teacher, children in a Montessori classroom learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child – physical, social, emotional and cognitive.
Stepping Stones offers Montessori education for toilet trained children between the ages of two-and-a-half and five years old. Each classroom has a Lead Teacher with an assistant and is no larger than 20 students.
The 2017 - 2018 School Year Begins Wednesday, September 6th, 2017
The full time program, directed by Jody Bosmans, includes the following:
The academic portion of the day takes place between 9:00am and 3:00pm.
Full time classes include a weekly Spanish lesson with correlating culture works for students to explore throughout the week. More Information Here
Each student brings a morning snack for their class once a month. They’re also the line leader for the day and can bring a special item from home to share with the class.
Students are invited to bring their own lunch daily.
Students who nap can bring their own blanket, pillow and snuggle item from home and we’ll keep their mat and supplies tucked away for the week. Items are sent home each Friday for laundering.
Outdoor and large motor skills have a huge impact not only on student's growth, but also on their ability to receive and retain information confidently. Each class starts and ends their day outside barring a storm.
The advantage of Montessori instruction five days a week is enormous. Many families find that students are capable beyond what they might have imagined.
